My Flying Experience with American Airlines to Aruba

If you are traveling out of country and flying American Airlines, be prepared for the following UNLISTED changes and requirements (the stuff they don’t list on the site):

  1. If you arrive 45 mins before your flight to the airport to check-in, they will not check your bags, so you will have to leave them behind
  2. If you are flying internationally, your covid-19 test results and flight information must be uploaded and verified through an app called Veri-Fly, and everything has to be approved before they can check you in. Do this BEFORE, as it takes roughly 15-20 minutes to have everything verified.
  3. Nobody cares about your Covid-19 vaccination card. If you got the shot, yay for you, but customs, airlines, and TSA all want to see the paper or online results.
  4. Be sure to check and see which test your country requires. I took the Antigen and USA wanted PCR. In Aruba, they were fine with an Antigen Rapid (it varies, so be careful)
  5. You may want to arrive at the airport at least 3 hours before due to all the additional safety and verification steps
