Preparation: What To Know Before Take Off

Preparing for travel is arguably one of the most crucial parts of taking a trip. Being prepared reduces the chance of hiccups while traveling. Be sure to check the following information before you travel:

  • Does Your Destination Require a Passport? If so, apply for a passport. If you already have one; ensure it’s not expired.
  • Check COVID Regulations – Do you need testing beforehand or upon return?  Check the Covid-19 regulations for your destination. Your agent will provide all these details after you are booked as well.
  • Confirmations Printed – Of course, we live in an era of technology, so most things are emailed or texted; however, nothing beats paper. Ensure your confirmations for hotel, activities, rental, etc., are printed somewhere for easy reference. Also see what required documents are needed for your destination
  • Prepare Transportation– Make sure you have valid transportation to get to and from the airport (shuttle/Uber/cab). If you want transportation added to your quote, talk to your agent

  • Invest in Travel Insurance – Travel insurance allows for coverage in the event something happens with your trip. For most quotes, travel insurance is added unless expressed otherwise.
  • Clear travel with your bank! Let them know where and when you will be traveling to avoid funds being locked due to fraudulent activity. Your bank will flag your account if you start spending money in a foreign country with no warning. You also need to talk to your bank about foreign transaction fees; sometimes they can add up as well. Always be prepared.
  • Familiarize Yourself With Your Destination – Read up on your destination before you go. Is haggling acceptable? Is tipping expected? What’s considered appropriate attire in various situations? What will the weather be like while you’re visiting? Are there any popular local scams to be on the watch for? All of these are important questions to have answered before you go.

While On Vacation…

Tips to Remember While Traveling

    • Airlines have baggage fees with weight limits, so don’t overbuy souvenirs and fill your bag too much.
    • Ensure you are current on TSA Regulations so you won’t take or bring back anything that will get you in trouble!!! – Know what is allowed before you go.
    • Bring small bills when traveling internationally. In most cases, other countries may have a different currency or may not take your debit/credit card, so having money is imperative.
    • Account for baggage fees, incidental hotel holds, and resort fees. Some people forget about this process when planning a spending budget.
